Outreach
The
Outreach Ministry of our church is based on Jesus teaching
of compassionate service to others, including helping people gain
the skills to help themselves. The premise is: "Give a fish
to someone and feed them for the day, teach them how to fish,
and feed them for a lifetime!" We try to do both.

Each
week, people from our church aided by volunteers from other churches
and local schools feed between 50 and 100 people at a Wednesday
Evening Soup Kitchen. The food is nutritious, and the atmosphere
friendly. In addition to this, we have a Thursday Food Pantry where
a bag of groceries is given out to those who need a little extra
help. We consider these neighbors our "guests."

Throughout
the year, we have special offerings and programs that support ministries
and missions beyond our local area. One of these is the making of
layettes for Church World Service. These layettes have basic clothing
for babies to be used by families in situations of crisis. People
in the congregation knit sweaters and blankets for these layettes,
and then prepare them for distribution. Other offerings are for
Our Churchs Wider Mission of the United Church of Christ,
and the One Great Hour of Sharing. By including missions in our
church budget and programs, we recognize the importance of working
with other churches and people of faith to extend hope to people
around the world.
